When Katie Najder came in to the store last week stating Kate Middleton as her fashion icon we knew it was the perfect opportunity to put a shoot together showing our take on Kate’s style! Katie graciously agreed to be our model and we managed to put together seven outfits, now published here for your pleasure:
From left to right: Kate this past June in a military-chic shirt and skirt outfit by Alexander McQueen. We put Katie in our equally sophisticated but youthful white and sheer cardigan with a fitted black pencil skirt and our iconic Audrey hat. Kate in June of 2012 in another Alexander McQueen outfit, a stunning white dress suit that she wore to the Order of the Garter ceremony at Windsor Castle. Katie is wearing our shapely white cotton pique suit with its matching shell, an Art Deco Ben-Amun brooch, with a Yvonne LaFleur original custom made headpiece; she is carrying a lovely navy and white handbag unique to YLF. Lastly we have Kate in September of 2012 at the Kranji War Memorial in Singapore wearing a duck egg blue pleated shirt dress. Katie is seen here wearing a similarly fluid silk dress in pale taupe, the simplicity of which is set off by the very New Orleans ornamentation of a beaded evening clutch.
Here Kate Middleton is recycling the same classic navy blazer and skinny jeans for a smart yet casual look. We put Katie in our our unlined navy and white terry-cloth blazer, a simple but fitted white tee, and Yvonne LaFleur’s phenomenal stretch trousers in navy. We chose to accent this casually classic outfit with the utilitarian glamour of a fawn suede Onezieme envelope clutch.
For this years Easter Sunday Kate wowed in an elegant dove grey Alexander McQueen coat dress in Sydney, Australia. We paired our fitted Roma sheath in black with a white dress coat threaded through with silver for a hint a sparkle. The pearls are Ben-Amun and the hat is a custom millinery masterpiece by Yvonne LaFleur, note the distinctive architectural brim.
In Hollywood while at the BAFTAs Kate stayed true to Alexander McQueen in this gorgeous floor length pleated lilac chiffon gown. For an evening look Katie was styled in a floor length greige gown with crystal embellishment at the neck and waist for a modern take on the traditional full coverage evening looks of the royals. Her handbag is modeled a vintage style popular during the roaring twenties, and her ears are sporting a pair of dramatic barrel clips.
We saved the best for last with Kate’s iconic Sarah Burton wedding dress that managed to combine tradition and modernity with breathtaking results. Our take on the McQueen by Burton was a chiffon and lace sweetheart gown with elbow length sleeves and a high neckline. We paired this with a veil edged with eyelash lace called ‘Kate Middleton’ for it’s similarity to the original piece. To top it all off we added a delicate tiara and pearl and rhinestone ear drops.
